CT4 Syndicate
Home
Delta Golf Yankee is owned by the CT4 Syndicate at Warbirds and is based at Ardmore Airfield just south of Auckland.
The CT4 has a 210HP engine and cruises at 135 knots for a fuel burn of 50 to 60 litres per hour. DGY was the first Airtrainer produced by NZ Aerospace hence the number 01 on the front. The CT4 was used extensively by both the New Zealand and Australian Airforces and although it is certified at +6 and -3 G for aerobatics, the Australian airforce had a requirement for 7G loading and the CT4 was actually tested to 11G. The aircraft has a reputation as a well balanced aerobatic aircraft although it has a high sink rate in the glide and for forced landings the touch down point needs to be under the roundel about two thirds of the length of the wing at the 1,000 foot point to complete a full glide aproach.
